The Affordable Care Act (ACA)
- Created health insurance marketplaces where you can shop for plans online.
- Limits how much insurance companies can charge for things like premiums, co-pays, and deductibles.
– Now, it covers about 50 million people across the U.S.
– Offers discounts on health insurance depending on your income and family size.
– It also know as "Obamacare."
How does it work?
The law helps people by giving them financial help, called “tax credits,” to make health insurance cheaper for individuals and families.
If your income and family size qualify, you can get a discount on your monthly health insurance payment. Most people end up paying between $0 and $50 a month.
